Social media in the workplace, do it or not?
Social media is a double-edged sword for employers. On one hand, it serves as a free promotional tool for your company thanks that allow employees to share work-related photos and positive news on their personal social media channels. On the other hand, it has introduced the need to regulate these communications without stifling them.
It helps to engage and build relationships. Social networks allow our to branch out further than the immediate surroundings of their departments. People re able to interact and network with people in other departments that they don't usually see. Through this way, your company may be strengthened as a whole and each one will feel more involved.
Allowing access to social networking in the workplace opens a company up to potential breaches of confidentiality and a tarnished image. Additionally, it may reduce productivity, since people very easily get sticky on their phone and social media.
Every coin has two sides. We can not simply discard social media because of its side effects. With wise use, social media in the workplace can promote productivity and build a stronger relationship with colleagues.
I recommend building an intranet for internal use only. Intranet immediate communication application, forum or blog provide a place for all staff to interact with each other without having information leakage problem.
